Then on Wednesday 24 May night, the Director and Senior Associate of CWC Group, Dr Alirio Parra, received OPEC’s highest Award in recognition for his pioneering role in the formation of OPEC in Baghdad on the 14th September 1960. It was celebrated in front of two hundred senior decision makers, including all 24 OPEC and non OPEC Ministers involved in the ground breaking talks in Vienna, and he received a standing ovation.

The unprecedented lifetime achievement award was presented by H.E, Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, Industry & Mineral Resources and the OPEC Conference President.

Alirio A. Parra was Venezuela’s Minister of Energy and Mines from 1992 to 1994 and head of its OPEC delegation.
