Chief Operating Officer - Upstream
Mallam Bello Rabiu was born on 12th August 1964 at Babura, Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nigeria. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Mathematical Statistics from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria and another Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from The Imperial College, London, United Kingdom.
He attended many career advancement courses in Nigeria and abroad including the Wharton Executive Development Program from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Operating Office, Upstream, Mr. Rabiu was the Group General Manager, Corporate Planning & Strategy Division of NNPC. He was also the General Manager, Competitive Analysis Department of the same Division from September 2010 till August 11th, 2015. He served as General Manager and Technical Assistant to the Group Managing Director of NNPC from 2005 till September 2010. He was at various times between 1991 and 2005 a planning officer and Pioneer Head, Material Management, Frontier Exploration Services at the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) Division of NNPC
He currently oversees NNPC Upstream Business segment which includes the NNPC’s direct Exploration & Production business (NPDC), Two Service Companies IDSL & NETCO as well as the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS).
Rabiu started his Public service career as an Academic, having served as a lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from 1987 to 1990.
He is happily married with children.
